FREE Sailing... Have A Go! - Tuesday 26 April 2011

Sail with Yachting New Zealand & Grant Dalton

Yaching New Zealand is bringing their Sailing... Have a Go! programme to the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club.  Twelve lucky school kids will get to experience of sailing for the very first time.  One of the Have a Go! sailors will be the lucky draw winner and will sail with Grant and the crew on-board CAMPER that afternoon.

WHERE: At the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, Keith Allen Drive, Sulphur Point, Tauranga.
WHEN: Tuesday 26th April at 9am sharp.
WHAT TO BRING: togs, towel, snacks, a drink and warm clothes for afterwards.

The Teams Racing Regatta is open to all Secondary Schools throughout the Bay of Plenty.

Free Sailing Opportunity - Saturday 27th November 2010

The Multi-hull division of the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, are giving the students of the Bay of Plenty, aged between 14 and 18, an opportunity to go sailing on multi-hull boats.

No experience required, as all the boats will be skippered by experience sailors.

WHERE: At the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, Keith Allen Drive, Sulphur Point, Tauranga.
WHEN: Saturday 27th November at 12 noon and Sunday 28th at 10.30am.
WHAT TO BRING: Shorts, T-shirt and a warm top (fleece) to go sailing in and a towel. Expect to get wet. We’ll provide buoyancy aids and splash tops.

The Bartercard Charity Sailing Extravaganza

Event Organiser Roy Walmsley & Toast Event Management

All aboard! We’re setting sail with Bartercard, Sun Media, Steve’s Marine and the Radio Network on the Bay of Plenty Sailing Academy Trust’s & Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club’s 5th annual fundraiser.

BoPSAT’s aim with this years ‘Bartercard Sailing Extravaganza’ on the Fathers Day weekend, is to help raise funds for the completion of the BoP Sailing Centre at the TYPBC, to create a ‘Sailability’ programme (sailing for the disabled) and establish a fund for the youth sailors throughout the Bay, who qualify to sail in major overseas regattas and World Championships. This years annual fundraiser consist of three stand alone elements:

  1. The Sun Media/Steve’s Marine ‘Art 4 SAIL’ - an Art Exhibition and Photographic, with a theme of sailing, New Zealand coastlines and related activities.
  2. The Steve’s Marine/Bartercard ‘Families on Keelers’ fun sail - the TYPBC Keeler Skippers will take family groups for a fun sail on the Tauranga Harbour.
  3. The Bartercard Casino and Charity Auction Evening - which like the other events, will be held at the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club (TYPBC), Sulphur Point, Tauranga.

The Sun Media & Steves Marine ‘Art 4 SAIL’ Art & Photographic Exhibition:
This opens in the newly refurbished function room at the TYPBC, with a private viewing for sponsors and invited guests on Thursday 2nd September, from 5.30pm to 8pm. Public viewings will be on Friday 3rd from 10am to 4pm, on Saturday 4th, between 10am and 2pm and Sunday 5th from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Six local artists will be displaying their works; Bryce Brown, Peter Crammond, Paula Knight, Rob McGregor, Richard Smith and Suzanne Smith. Photographs by Will Calver, Cathy Vercoe, Adrian Rumney and local photographers will be on display.

The Steve’s Marine/Bartercard ‘Families on Keelers’ fun sail:
Is planned to set sail at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, so everyone will need to arrive at the TYPBC by 1pm to be assigned to boats and fitted for life jackets. There are limited spaces, so to avoid disappointment, please register your interest with Roy Walmsley, BoPSAT Trustee & Administrator on 541 2341. A $15 donation per adult is requested, accompanied children (under 18) free.

The Bartercard Casino and Charity Auction Evening:
Is being held on Saturday 4th September, at 5pm with a buffet dinner from 6pm. Tickets available from the Chairs of the various TYPBC Divisions and BoPSAT Trustees, or contact Roy Walmsley, BoPSAT Trustee & Administrator on 541 2341. Tickets are limited to 180 and are selling fast, so don’t leave it to the last minute to secure yours, as you maybe disappointed. Tickets cost: $25 per adult and $10 per junior (under 18).
