Learn to Windsurf

After enjoying a 'Fun Sail' day or experiencing windsurfing with family and friends, many students are keen to learn to windsurf. 

The 'Learn to Windsurf' programme provides a series of courses which progress participants from the basic skills to racing at the Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, on the International One Design racing class, the Bic Techno.  There’s also plenty of time for fun recreational windsurfing.


Aim: to provide the opportunity for students to 'Learn to Windsurf' and to promote regular club and recreational windsurfing.

Target Market: school students in the Bay of Plenty.

Age Range: 8 to 16.

School Years: 4 to 12.

Group Size: instructor ratio 1:6.

Duration: each course includes 8 sessions.

Availability: Summer Terms 1 & 4, midweek after school.  Winter Terms 2 & 3, at the weekend and during school holidays.

Qualification: optional NCEA Credits.

Cost: per student $245.00, includes Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club membership.
